Welcome to

Stella Storey Animal and Human Reiki Practitioner

Hi, my name is Stella Storey and I’m a Reiki Practitioner based on the Border of Co. Durham and Northumberland in the Village of Muggleswick. I treat horses, dogs and people using Reiki.

What is Reiki?

Reiki originates from Japan and around 100 years ago was introduced to the Western World.

It is a complimentary healing technique that helps to calm and relax the mind and also the body which in turn allows the body to heal itself.

As a Reiki Practitioner, I use my hands to transfer and guide energy that is around us, known as ‘ki’, to various positions on the body to help unblock any problems that maybe obstructing the natural flow of energy within the body.

Reiki is a non invasive treatment and not all the hand positions have body contact, ‘hands off’ is just as effective. There is no pressure or manipulation involved in the treatment.

Reiki is gentle in its’ application, which brings about calmness and a state of relaxation that helps the body to heal itself both physically and mentally.

Why treat animals as well as people?

Animals respond very well to Reiki, the way they relax and switch off during treatment is an honest way of showing me they are feeling the benefits of the treatment – they are not acting, they allow the Reiki to help them. Remember I can’t explain to a Horse or a Dog how the treatment works and what might happen to them, they will know instinctively that it is benefitting them.

How did I end up on Reiki road?

Firstly, we all have a story, ( no pun intended ) or as the ‘reality stars and celebs’ would say ‘I’ve been on a journey, well this a short version of mine.

I was brought up on a hill farm with sheep and horses, which later became a British Horseracing Authority Licensed Training Yard, which I have been involved with since my late teens.

Working with racehorses has its ups and downs, in my case, a few downs, as in falls and injuries which resulted in becoming interested in Holistic Therapies and I am qualified to practice Sports Massage, Aromatherapy and Reflexology. However when a fall resulted in a neck injury, I was recommended Reiki as a treatment to help the ‘wobble’ in my confidence that ensued.

This first encounter triggered me to eventually become a qualified Reiki Practitioner. This is done in person and is not possible to achieve on line – there are a lot of people claiming to be qualified and have only done an on line course. Of course, I carried on with racehorses as my main focus.

Time moves on and post covid I’m beginning a new chapter of my life.

After all the years of being so heavily involved with horses, I am well aware of how unsettled and nervous some horses can be, resulting in behaviour problems and emotional issues – yes horses have emotions, but conventional Veterinary Care and Physio can’t always address these problems and this is when Reiki can step in and play a part.

Benefits of Reiki

A Reiki treatment can bring about calmness and a feeling of relaxation, which helps ease tension in the body, allowing blood to circulate more efficiently therefore it becomes more oxygenated. This in turn promotes physical healing and can help support the immune system.

Reiki helps the recipient by easing tension, aches and pains, reduce stress and aid recovery from injuries and leaving them with a general feeling of wellbeing.
